1、 Definition: Tourism environmental assessment is the abbreviation of tourism environmental impact assessment and tourism environmental quality assessment. In a broad sense, tourism environment assessment is to assess, judge and propose countermeasures for the status of tourism environment system.
2、 Environmental impact assessment (EIA for short) refers to the method and system of analyzing, predicting and assessing the possible environmental impact of planning and construction projects after implementation, proposing countermeasures and measures to prevent or mitigate adverse environmental impact, and tracking and monitoring. Generally speaking, it is to analyze the possible impact on the environment after the project is completed and put into operation, and propose pollution prevention countermeasures and measures.
3、 Environmental impact assessment refers to the systematic identification, prediction and assessment of the possible impacts (consequences) on the environment after the implementation of the proposed construction projects, regional development plans and national policies. The fundamental purpose of environmental impact assessment is to encourage the consideration of environmental factors in planning and decision-making, so as to achieve more environmentally compatible human activities.

4、 An ideal environmental impact assessment process should meet the following conditions:
(1) Basically adapt to all projects that may have significant impact on the environment, and be able to identify and assess all possible significant impacts,
(2) Compare various alternatives (including the situation that the project is not constructed or the region is not developed), management technology and mitigation measures;
(3) Generate a clear environmental impact statement (EIS) so that both experts and non experts can understand the characteristics of possible impacts and their importance;
(4) Including extensive public participation and strict administrative review procedures;
(5) Timely and clear conclusions to provide information for decision-making.
